DAY 2, 24 April 2002
Wednesday

I got up early. Way early. Earlier than I normally do for work. They're not kidding about the sunrise from this room; the rays shoot directly from the sky into your window onto your face and through your eyelids. It was just as well, I wanted to get a head start on the various paperwork we had to do for the wedding, including blood tests. Ruff.

People we talked to at the Inn seemed to think it would be a piece of cake. Unfortunately it was more like a piece of runaround cake. No one seemed to know the procedure exactly. First we went to Town Hall. They told us to go to the hospital first. We went to the hospital where confusion and language barriers were aplenty. It took about 3 hours to do maybe half-hour's worth of work done, all just to get the doctor's official signature for the blood test. Then we were told to go into town to obtain some stamp for the marriage certificate. There was some confusion as to whether we got the right one, drove back to the hospital and finally had our blood taken.

We had to come back the next day for the results.

Me, pool, sea, sky

By noon we were finally ready to play. Dan and I went swimming in the pool. A big cloud settled itself just overhead the Inn so I demanded a change of venue for clearer skies. We hopped in the jeep and made our way to nearby Sun Bay beach, a lovely crescent of white powder sand and beautiful waters. Aaahh...so quiet, so peaceful, not a soul to be seen anywhere on the beach. We waded in the surf for awhile, until it was time to head back for my parents' arrival at the 4pm ferry, as well as Aunt Sandra, and cousin Wendy.

Sun Bay, a public yet private beach

All of the sudden it went from just Dan and me alone at the Inn to the sudden horde of Asians invading the premises! It was very, very exciting. That night we had dinner at Le Campesina where there was plenty of laughing and drinking. My family was here and soon the rest would follow. It was truly starting.

But still at this point, it hadn't sunk in that we were getting married.
